Orna Hanly

Orna Hanly is Head of Design + Construct, an innovative education and research initiative advancing Ireland’s climate and sustainability goals in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector. Formerly Head of the Dublin School of Architecture, she has over 30 years’ experience in architectural education, leading programmes that span from apprenticeship to doctoral level.
Her research explores architectural education and the role of the design studio as pedagogy and practice, and she is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education. A Fellow of the RIAI, Orna also holds a Master in Business Studies from UCD. In 1992, she established her own practice, specialising in museum and exhibition design.
