East Quad
Overview
The East Quad in the Grangegorman site is the central hub for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, housing four of its six schools: the School of Art and Design, School of Media, Conservatoire of Music and Drama, and Social Sciences, Law and Education.
Situated between the Clock Tower and Lower House, the building offers a wide variety of teaching spaces, staff offices, and cutting-edge specialist facilities designed to support artistic, academic, and cultural activities. These include performance venues such as a 500-seat rehearsal hall, recital hall, black box theatre, TV studio, and outdoor performance area.
The East Quad also features dedicated studios and laboratories for photography and film with darkrooms, film processing and print finishing rooms, and digital photography suites. Media studios are equipped with audio recording rooms, newsrooms, editing suites, and professional broadcast gear. Music and drama programs benefit from numerous practice and rehearsal rooms, while design students have access to studios and workshops tailored for woodwork, joinery, printmaking, casting, and other creative disciplines.
