Reflecting on Open House Dublin 2025 at Grangegorman
Last Saturday 18 October 2025, Grangegorman opened its gates once again for Open House Dublin — Ireland’s annual celebration of architecture and placemaking, inviting visitors to explore the evolving landscape of this historic site.
Across four guided tours, our Project Coordinators Aideen Lowery and Edward Scanlon, along with Katherine Martin, Grangegorman Histories Coordinator, led visitors through the architecture of Grangegorman’s transformation: the careful balance between preserving the deep social and cultural history embedded within the walls and grounds and creating new, sustainable spaces for education, health, and community life.
Many visitors shared that they hadn’t realised what once stood here, or how thoughtfully the site’s historic character has been woven into its modern fabric.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, asked questions, and shared reflections — and to our team for helping bring the story of Grangegorman to life once again.
