Grangegorman Junction Works Notice and FAQ
August 2025
The GDA submitted a new planning application to Dublin City Council for the Grangegorman Junction Works on 28th August 2025 - (Ref: WEB2979/25). We originally received planning permission for these junction works back in 2019, but we were not in a position to progress the works prior to the previous permission expiring. These plans are part of the original planning conditions for the Dublin 7 Educate Together school on the Grangegorman site. The works aim to permanently improve safety around the current road layout for the school, while also creating a welcoming new public space that the whole community can enjoy.
Once the works are complete, they will.
- permanently remove the one-way section of road north at the junction currently blocked by temporary barriers,
- provide accessible drop-off for the school and
- create a new public paved space with a number of trees, pollinator-friendly planting and bike parking.
The existing two-way T-junction will remain unchanged.
Back in October 2024, the Agency held a number of public consultation events for local residents to gather feedback on the proposed works. The insights gathered highlighted areas where GDA needed to gather more information to fully understand local concerns. We have now compiled an updated FAQs Grangegorman Junction document, containing the GDA's response to questions and concerns about the junction works plan and local matters of concern. You can also access the Traffic and Parking Survey conducted by the Agency in the area in March 2025
