Historic use

This is not the first relocation for the much-travelled print making team, who had been in TU Dublin’s old art and design facilities in Mountjoy Square for a number of decades prior to moving to Grangegorman in 2015.

The Print Making Workshop was planned to be moved to the new site, on a temporary basis to be grouped together with it’s parent school of Art and Design adjacent to the East Quad building. Before this move, the print making classrooms were also being temporarily housed in the North House (as part of the GDA’s adaptive re-use programme for historic buildings on campus). All off the TU Dublin’s art school classes were to move from the North House to the new East Quad building, consequently allowing the GDA to commence a new phase of life for the North House – which is now forming an integral part of the Academic Hub project, now on site as of mid-2023.

Adjacencies

The site for the Print Making Workshop is actually in still a temporary site, with a temporary building, albeit a very beautify designed one.

The locate to the South East of the Clock Tower build, forming a buffer edge to the meadow lawn and St Brendan’s Way gives the building a chance to have a very visible public face, with a shopfront window to display it’s latest student’s creations.
