Planned Archaeology Works Adjacent to St Brendan’s Way

Following our public information session in early January, GDA are happy to confirm that Phase 1 demolition works at Plot 14 (Previously known as the GoirtĂn Building & Transport Hub and as formerly used by the HSE) have now been completed as scheduled.

Phase 2 Archaeological Investigation Works have now commenced.

During the course of recent standard site investigations, a quantity of historical human skeletal remains was unexpectedly discovered. These remains are likely dated between 1795-1825. Further archaeological assessments and investigations will now take place. This is similar to other works which have taken place over the last number of years across the Grangegorman site. This will help us understand the full history of the site.

Hoarding along St Brendan’s Way is currently in place to facilitate the works and while there will be no closure to the public thoroughfare, some necessary works will be carried out along St Brendan’s Way from next week, 31st March 2025, and for a period of approximately two weeks.

Disruptions will be kept as minimal as possible, and the public’s patience and cooperation is appreciated as these important works are carried out.

Further information will be shared when available and as works are significantly progressed.
