The Grangegorman Histories Project presents a fascinating discussion on institutional experiences of pandemics as part of the Dublin Festival of History’s 2020 programme. Focusing primarily on the “Spanish” Flu of 1918 – 20, expert panellists shed light on the unique role of the pandemic in revealing specific societal weaknesses, as seen during the current crisis.
The event is moderated by Catriona Crowe and participants include Dr Cillian de Gascun, Dr Ida Milne, Professor Luke O’Neill and Fintan O’Toole.
You can watch the online panel discussion here.
The Grangegorman Histories Project seeks, among other things, to collaborate with the Health Service Executive to open up historic health records for academic scholarship and for family research. Find out more about this exciting programme at www.grangegormanhistories.ie
