Dublin City Council will be seeking approval shortly for two proposals in the vicinity of Grangegorman; one under Part VIII Planning in the area of Grangegorman Upper and the other to amend the Grangegorman Planning Scheme under Part IX of the Planning and Development Acts 2000 – 2004. The two processes will run concurrently and will require separate observations to be submitted to Dublin City Council once the formal consultation starts. It is expected that the formal submission period will begin in mid-October. The proposals are outlined below.
Proposed Part VIII Grangegorman Upper – Footpath and Road Improvement Scheme
This scheme proposes to increase footpath widths along Grangegorman Upper on both sides of the road to accommodate a new one way system along the road from North Circular Road towards Grangegorman Lower. The proposal also includes an enhanced public realm around the entrance of the new primary school to be constructed at Grangegorman Upper as part of the Grangegorman development.

Proposed Amendment to Grangegorman Planning Scheme 2012
The proposed amendment to the Planning Scheme is to allow for a 24 classroom primary school in place of the 16 classroom school currently approved to cater for the greater demand for school places within the Grangegorman area. As the Planning Scheme is a statutory document, any proposed changes must undergo this statutory process.
