The West Quad site is part of the overall development of the Grangegorman campus and will be home to the College of Business, the School of Languages and the University’s Conferring Hall. The project, which is subject to requirements of the SDZ Planning Scheme, has received planning permission and has been signed off by TU Dublin and the GDA.
The proposed building is approximately 21,000sm and will extend 6 floors over basement to accommodate the College of Business and School of Languages. The building has been designed to create a dialogue with its neighbouring Academic Hub Library Complex. The entrance portal to the West Quad will accommodate a route through the site to Prussia Street, creating a grand entrance to both the College of Business and the Conferring Hall.
The School of Languages will accommodate Staff offices and language laboratories while the College of Business comprises 5 separate schools:
1. School of Accounting and Finance
2. School of Management
3. School of Marketing
4. School of Retail & Services Management
5. Graduate Business School
The vision of the College of Business is to be a leading Business School in Ireland, advancing business and management practice, learning and engagement. The design will engage students by creating a culture of entrepreneurship and providing a space that encourages the mixing of both people and ideas. The ultimate measure of success will be that the building will visibly demonstrate the ‘spirit of the beehive.’
The 800-seater Conferring Hall will be situated in a highly visible location along St Brendan’s Way. The building will accommodate TU Dublin conferrings, conferences, exams, classrooms, society events, galas and college clubs/societies’ events throughout the year to maximize the potential of the building.
