Today 10 years ago we welcomed our communities into Grangegorman as a public space for the first time.
Around 700 people from the neighbourhood and beyond visited Grangegorman for a tour of the new facilities ahead of the first TU Dublin (then DIT) students arriving. Many visitors lingered to share a cup of tea and their own stories of Grangegorman, fostering a sense of connection and community in the newly revitalised space.
Since then, the Grangegorman transformation has continued at pace, reconnecting the site into the surrounding neighbourhood through new accesses, developing vital public healthcare facilities and core educational amenities at primary and third level in addition to providing extensive public realm – including sports pitches and a playground – for all to enjoy.
As we look back on this day a decade ago, we celebrate the vibrant communities of Grangegorman – past, present and future – as we progress the next stages of development on site.
