This title combines the parklands, synthetic pitches and courts as well the playing fields. One of the last undisturbed open spaces in Dublin City, this site has been dedicated for the most part to sports related activities, both in its recent past use and in the final use as part of the Masterplan. There are also numerous areas marked as parkland and recreational play spaces which will be dotted all along the Serpentine Walk. The aim of the Masterplan is to maintain as much of the existing open space as possible. The location of the Fields provides the completed urban quarter’s Upper Terrace at the Academic Hub with a natural viewing platform for games and matches, as does the student housing all along the Serpentine Walk.

Developed in the one of the first phases of site works as part of the Site Infrastructure and Public Realm (SIPR) project, the Fields offer a range of sporting facilities for both DIT and the community. The all-weather synthetic pitch, tennis courts and multi-purpose playing space opened for use in autumn 2015 and bookings are managed by DIT Sports.

Anyone looking to book a game/match on any of these facilities should email fieldsportbookings@dit.ie or call 01-4024241

You can also view the available facilities and pricing online here.

The full-sized grass rugby and GAA pitches, while developed during the same phase of works, needed time for the grass to bed in and are now available for use since September 2016. Watch the development of the Fields in this timelapse video.

In September 2015, a large playground was also opened to the public. With a variety of different playing equipment and a protective  ground finish, the playground is easily accessible for children of different age groups and is suitable for both able bodied and disabled children. It is conveniently located near the Fingal Place Gate, which provides a pedestrian access to the site from Prussia Street. Part of the Masterplan’s Serpentine Walk was also opened at this time and provides a scenic 1km walking/jogging track around the Fields.
