Pathway 3: Cultural Mapping

Pathway 3 in ‘…the lives we live’ Grangegorman Public Art programme involves engaging with artists in actively creative alternative maps of Grangegorman (see projects section).  The Public Art Working Group’s objective is to ensure that Grangegorman is an integral part of Dublin’s city – the programme was launched as part of Culture Night and included work by the artist Alan Phelan ‘The Possibility of an Archive’ (view here), and DIT graduate Justine McDonnell’s ‘Breaking the Rule of Silence’ (view here).

The Agency supports Dublin City Council’s recent initiative ‘Dublin Culture Connects (www.dublinscultureconnects.ie) which involves the cataloguing of both ‘hard’ assets (buildings, public spaces, creative organisations etc.) and ‘soft’ cultural assets (informal networks, local information, stories and customs) that make Dublin such a great city.

Mapping projects associated with pathway 3 will compliment Dublin City’s cultural map with the aim of bringing out the distinctive historical and contemporary features specific to Grangegorman. Information about forthcoming projects will be announced in the News Section on the main Public Art page.
